There is no place like Florida for Private Investigations. Public records are a few clicks away, the PI licensure is relatively easy to obtain, and the weather is beautiful. People from any job background can find a new career in Private Investigations. You do not need to be a retired police officer to do well in this field.

Here is the process to becoming an Intern Private Investigator in Florida (CC Intern PI):
Complete the required 40 hours of training (can be done on-line) and get a sponsor (an employer ” PI Agency). This can be done from outside of Florida by taking an on-line course. Also, make sure that you check with the Florida Department of Agriculture about the possibility of your past investigative work experience and/or education shortening the length of the two-year internship required before becoming a full C licensed Private Investigator.
Pick up an Intern Private Investigator State application from a Florida regional office or have one sent to you from the Florida Department of Agriculture. You will need to: o fill out the application booklet, o tear out the sponsorship page from the booklet and have your employer (PI agency) fill it out, o have an authorized facility, such as a police department, workup your fingerprint card (included in the application), o provide a passport-style photo, o provide your Certificate of Completion (original copy) from the 40 hour ‘CC’ Intern Investigator course and o submit the State fees.
Send the package to the Florida Department of Agriculture with ‘Return Receipt Mail’ after you make a copy of everything for your records.
Following submission of the application to the State, you can start your internship. The State will mail you a letter of receipt that must be with you at all times while you are working. In three or four months, the State will send you the official ‘CC’ Intern PI card for you to keep in your wallet.
This is a career that you will never regret starting. You will enjoy this independent line of work and accumulate many stories for your friends and grandkids.
